Genji Japanese Steak House in Reynoldsburg

The chefs here are supposed to entertain you while they cook, and when you can tell they like their job it makes the experience that much better. Two random things for newbies to japanese steakhouses doe- Lean back when you see the lighter come out and don't set anything too close to the grill. (Speaking of which, if might be nice to have bigger tables for the guests...)

This is always a wonderful place to go and always entertaining! Kudos to them for always giving their best to customers.

Delicious fresh food cooked directly in front of you by an entertaining chef! And to top it off lunch prices are awesome for the portion size. I had my 2 year old granddaughter with me and the chef kept her entertaines the whole time. I dont do it often but it is definitely a treat when I do. The only draw back would be if you have to limit your sodium intake. It tends to be on the salty side.

It's much more expensive during dinner hours. 💲💲Dinner you do get more show and more food, but I'd stick with dinner for parties of two!! I wish everyone at the tables would be asked to stay off there phones but it is what it is. 🎆 If you haven't tried it yet.....You are missing out on a great adventure with great food!

This is a wonderful place whether it's just you and your loved one or a family gathering! Don't let the prices fool you the food and entertainment is all worth it!

Place was a little Smokey but the food was delicious! Chef was on point and staff was very friendly. Definitely recommend.

My family and I love Genji! The staff is amazing, the chefs are entertaining, and the food is so awesome! You get a ton of food for the price...and make sure you dump yum yum sauce on everything!

Food is excellent...never crowded around 1 pm...no wait. I love that they don't automatically add gratuity. I am sad they are now closed.

We had a blast, and the food was great! Our chef was hilarious, our waiter was very courteous. Our favorite in the greater Columbus area.

This place is great. Definitely a Columbus classic. Food is delicious, the chefs are always nice and entertaining and that yum-yum sauce is unbeatable.

I love coming here ! Alot of the hibachi chefs have been here for a long time and are pretty funny .. Food is ALWAYS great i love the soup as well .. I wish they had the onion dressing for the salads like ichiban though is the only thing i would change .

This is my favorite Japanese steakhouse! I have never had a bad experience! I usually go during lunch hours because the dinner prices are a little high for me.

Waste of time and miles. Drove from Dublin to Reynoldsburg for Genji. Got there and the host said it would be a 45 min- 1 hour wait. We thought it would be worth the wait. But there was no sitting room left and since I am pregnant, we thought it would be best to sit in the warm car for 30 min and come back in. After 30 min, the host had already given our seats away and said he put us all the way to the back of the list! We went to Cheesecake Factory instead...

Going downhill. On valentine's night our chef was so knew he didn't know how to turn on the grill. Then he took for ever cooking each item (including the steak) all separate and it made it hard to eat our meals. We had rice then waited thru. ..veggies, onion, sprouts, shrimp chicken...then finally he put our steaks on and by the time they were done all our rice and veggies were cold. Won't be back. Reservations should have meant we were going to have great service. I left a big tip anyway. Made me disappointed.

The Genji on Sawmill closed, and this was the closest one to me. If you've ever been to another Genji location, you'll know what to expect. If you love the concept of a traditional Japanese steakhouse, you'll love this place. Enjoy cooking right in front of you in a fun, cozy environment. It's great whether you have 2 people or your entire family: It scales rather well. If you like steak, rice, covered in Yum-yum sauce, you'll love Genji, and this location definitely shows it.

Not much "show" from the cook, ginger dressing wasn't great, lettuce felt mushy in my mouth (didn't eat my salad), no soup included, no "shared" sake as at other Japanese steakhouses, veggies included onion and zucchini (we're used to having mushrooms and broccoli as well), no interaction from cook to try to toss bite sized pieces of zucchini into patrons mouths, have had better yum-yum sauce, large portions of food but took forever to get more than rice on our plates, very pricey for the lack of so many things

Okay I'm really torn on this review. In my opinion this is the best tasting Japanese steakhouse in Columbus. I will however only go to the Dublin location from this point on. This Reynoldsburg location is the most ghetto restaurant I've been to for the quality of food. I mean I dropped $30 on lunch and had to sit and listen to some ghetto fabulous family fight the entire time. I heard the N word a half a million times I bet. They were gonna beat each other's butts and didn't care about getting thrown out. F these mother f'rs they said. I realize it's the first of the month time but come on this place isn't cheap no matter who's money your spending. Try to act half way civilized in public please. The restaurant management should have done something as anyone could hear their loudness.

We have been to Genji about 50 times in the last 14 years and have always had great experiences! Food is well prepared, service is prompt and friendly and the cooks are skilled and entertaining.Genji rocks!

Came in at 6:52pm and asked to place a To go order and even though they don’t close until 8pm and they turned us away and said that they don’t accept to go orders after 6:45pm! Seriously you wasn’t busy at all and it was obvious she didn’t want to be there! I have never had this problem before but I will take my business elsewhere for now on! Worst experience! Don’t waste your time

Seriously, this is THE best hibachi grill ever. They invented yum-yum sauce! Very highly skilled chefs. Great drinks. Really makes for a great time. We go twice a year on birthdays. Its simply a given that we are going there.

We had been here before and the food was good. But when we came back, we hadn't made reservations. We we're told there would be a 30 minute wait, which we were fine with. Another family was waiting and asked the hostess about the 4 empty tables since there were a total of 6 of us waiting. She told us we'd have to wait because she had a party that was coming in. He asked if that party would fill 4 tables and she became rude, telling him she'd worked there for 18 years and knew what she was doing. At that point, we'd been waiting about 20 minutes and weren't willing to wait another 25 for rude service.

Love this place! I highly recommend getting extra Fried Rice!

Love this place. Totally addicted to their "Yum Yum" sauce. The only issue I've ever had there is we could show up and sit at a table for a long time until others show up to fill the table. I understand why they do this, but 10min should be long enough. I dont think this issue deserves to lose a star, but just a suggestion.... Over all, their food and staff are amazing and the place is always clean. ♡

Always friendly and professional. No singing, as I didn't want it, but staff still made my birthday nice.

This seems like a place that used to be really good, but has let itself become outdated and desperately needs some energy. With all the new Japanese steakhouses that have opened in this area, this one has really let itself go. With some refresh, a good cleaning, and some pizazz this place could be good again. Someone let me know if that happens.

Easily the best hibachi Japanese Steakhouse in central Ohio. The yum yum sauce is to die for. The place probably needs remolded and the parking lot could use some work, but other than that it is fantastic.

This place is really fun. The show while they cook your food...to order...is very entertaining. The food is consistantly good.

My favorite hibachi place in Columbus. I go a few times a month and love the steak/shrimp. Also, the spicy tuna roll is second to none. Unfortunatelyhas closed down as of 11/30/18 :(

I was excited to go here for my birthday but the salad was straight out of a bag; ice burg lettuce ...Had a plate full of rice for what seems like forever before they were done cooking for each person at the table... the meat had an awful bland taste.. Way over priced for the whole thing in my opinion. I had better expectations. Surprised that it has decent reviews on here honestly. Deserves no more than a 1, and maybe that's generous.

My family and I used to eat at the Genji on Sawmill before they shut down. This was our first time at this particular location and I think it might've been our best visit yet. The food was absolutely amazing and the chef was spectacular - very entertaining.
